How we work

Joinery projects are complex and always one-offs. To make sure they stay on track and on budget we follow a disciplined process throughout planning and execution, without being unduly rigid.

Pre-contract

Before we start, and before any financial commitment, we like to understand exactly what you want and expect.

  • Time on site, conversations about what you want to achieve and preliminary measurements help us to know what you expect. We can then be more accurate in pricing and we have the foundations for a smooth, efficient project.

  • You can bring us the roughest of sketches or detailed drawings and we’ll help get them made. We turn your ‘back of the envelope’ into a digital sketch, with our thoughts on how best to get the result you want.Together we’ll finalise the design so you are clear on what we’re going to do, and we can decide on the way best to make it.

Planning

We take pride in making sure the planning of your project has covered every eventuality. With good plans you’re in a much better position to overcome any issues that may occur.

  • Joiners live by the rule ‘measure twice, cut once’. Buildings are never as square or regular as they seem – we need to understand all the quirks and distortions the installers will meet. Careful measurement at this stage eliminates costly rework and ensures speedy installation.

  • There are a multitude of materials available. We will guide you through selection of the best materials for your job. We love the feel and effect of natural timber, but we also love the strength and stability of man made boards. We use both with a craftsman’s passion.

Manufacturing

We know you don’t buy a plan, you buy the finished article. The quality of our workmanship, the service and helpfulness we provide to our customers all come together as we make it happen.

  • We use the latest, digitally controlled cutting machinery to achieve a high level of accuracy and precision. This huge investment helps us reduce wastage and production time to a minimum.

  • With tenth-of-a-millimetre cutting accuracy and new techniques, joints have become stronger and faster to make than traditional techniques have previously allowed. We constantly monitor the evolving world of joining timber so we can make the best joinery for you.

  • This is the bit we love the most – when the job moves onto the shop floor to be made. Parts are pre-assembled to check those final details, before being dismantled again in order to apply the final finish.

  • From simple colour finishes to the finest veneers and lacquers, we can advise how to make your project meet expectations.

Delivery

It’s time for delivery. Building projects are often dangerous environments for joinery and fragile finishes. So our precision and attention to detail doesn’t stop there.

  • As part of our planning we will have assessed any difficulties we may encounter. Is there space for storage until it’s needed, or do we need to manage a piece-by-piece just in time delivery? If there is storage, how much will we need and will it protect the pieces we have created? How much protective packaging is needed?

Is the lift big enough to take the largest piece? Then we can make sure everything is packed to make delivery and storage easy.

  • We have worked hard to make installation as easy as possible – but it will inevitably be complex. We make sure your contractors understand how best to install your finished product.

Aftersales

We build our joinery to last. When it's time for a change, or something extra, we want to be able to help. Our work doesn’t finish when we have delivered.

  • Every job creates detailed drawings and instructions – all of which we store digitally. At any point in the future we could make it all again – or add customisations and modifications as ideas change.

  • We never disappear when the job is done. If there’s anything you need, we’ll have the time to make sure we sort it out as quickly as possible.
